Understanding Bailey County Releases
Bailey County Jail is the county's only confirmed detention facility. The Bailey County Sheriff's Office runs it. A person who leaves may go back to the community after bond, completion of a county sentence, dismissal, or another court order. Yet leaving the building does not always mean freedom from custody. The person may have been sent to a Texas Department of Criminal Justice unit, another county jail, federal custody, or immigration custody. The record must state which event occurred.
The wording matters. Bond means pretrial release subject to court duties, not dismissal or acquittal. Time served reflects completion or credit under an order, and the judgment gives that phrase its legal meaning. A transfer means custody changed hands. Parole is supervised release after a TDCJ prison term, while probation is court-ordered community supervision that may occur without a prison term. Discharge generally means the agency's sentence or supervision authority has ended.
Important: Bailey County publishes no live jail roster, archive, or recent-release feed. An empty web search cannot prove that someone was released.
Bailey County Release Types
A custody-ending entry should be read with its court order and any notice from the receiving system. The physical exit can occur after a judge signs an order, so the order date is not always the jail departure time. Likewise, a notification service records a reported status change. It aids prompt awareness, but a certified clerk record or official jail response is stronger proof of the event's legal basis.
| Event | Meaning | Best next source |
|---|---|---|
| Bond | Pretrial custody ended subject to court terms. | Jail exit record and bond order |
| Time served | A sentence or credited term was completed as ordered. | Judgment and booking-out record |
| Dismissal or order | Legal authority to hold the person ended, though processing may follow. | Filed order and jail release time |
| Transfer | Another agency took custody. This is not community release. | Transfer record and receiving system |
| Parole or mandatory supervision | A TDCJ prisoner left confinement under state supervision. | TDCJ release certificate and IVSS |
| Full discharge | The relevant sentence or supervision authority ended. | Agency discharge record |
A detainer is a request or hold from another authority. If one applies, a local release order may lead to transfer rather than community release. Bailey County records should identify the receiving agency when that fact was recorded.
Bailey County Release Record Fields
No official Bailey County sample is posted online, so the exact local field set should not be assumed. A narrow request can seek existing records that connect the person and booking with the event that ended or changed county custody. Ask for facts already maintained by the Sheriff, not a new explanation or sentence calculation.
| Field to request | What it may show |
|---|---|
| Full name and jail ID | Links the result to the right booking. |
| Booking date and time | Marks entry into the county jail process. |
| Arresting agency | Identifies the agency tied to the booking. |
| Charge and cause reference | Connects jail records to the proper court file. |
| Bond information | Shows bond facts recorded by the jail. |
| Exit date and time | Marks when county custody ended or changed. |
| Release type or reason | Distinguishes release, discharge, or transfer. |
| Authority or destination | Names the court order or receiving agency. |
| Property acknowledgment | May show that stored property was returned. |
Not every field must exist or be public. Protected personal data, juvenile records, medical facts, security-sensitive information, and material covered by expunction or nondisclosure may be withheld or redacted. The court file adds docket events, orders, judgment, dismissal, sentence, and time-served credit. It may explain why custody changed without showing the exact exit time.
Request Bailey County Release Records
When no online result survives, send a focused written public-information request to the Bailey County Sheriff or the county's designated public-information officer. The official Bailey County Sheriff page provides the current contact route. No dedicated public-information email, special form, records-counter hours, or county booking-record fee schedule was found. Call before visiting or repurposing an email shown for another task.
- Identify the person by full name, date of birth if known, jail number if known, and a narrow date range.
- Ask for existing jail-register, booking-in, booking-out, release, transfer, authority, property-return, and booking-photo records.
- Request electronic copies and permit ordinary redaction of confidential facts.
- Ask for an itemized cost estimate before charges exceed a stated limit. Do not assume a local fee.
- Keep proof of delivery and match the response with the relevant court docket.
The Texas Public Information Act requires production promptly, meaning as soon as reasonably possible under the circumstances. It does not promise delivery within ten business days. An office need not create a report, answer legal questions, or conduct research. Seek named records and fields.

Bailey County Release Retention
Texas Local Schedule PS explains why a formal request can work after a screen result vanishes. PS4200-06a makes the county jail register permanent. It must include at least name, gender, intake number, reason for confinement, and release or transfer date. PS4200-10 keeps booking-in and booking-out forms plus commitment, transfer, and release authority records for at least two years after release or transfer.
These are minimum retention periods, not online publication promises. Bailey County may keep a record longer. Government Code Chapter 552 governs public access, but exceptions may protect law-enforcement detail, confidential history, juvenile or victim facts, medical information, and material affected by an expunction or nondisclosure order.
Bailey County Release Property Records
Property paperwork can supply a second time marker for Bailey County released inmates. Under PS4200-12, inventories and receipts documenting receipt and return of prisoner property must be retained for at least two years after release or transfer. A return receipt may help show when booking-out tasks occurred and whether property was recorded as returned. It does not explain the legal reason for exit.
Request this record from the jail records custodian, not the court clerk. Pair it with the release or transfer entry and court order. No official Bailey County property-window schedule or special release-property rule was located.
Bailey County Records After Expunction
Texas moved expunction law into Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A on January 1, 2025. Expunction is a court process that can require covered records to be destroyed or returned under the signed order. Release from jail does not create automatic eligibility. The outcome and statutory conditions matter. For some unfiled charges, waiting alternatives are 180 days, one year, or three years based on offense grade.
Nondisclosure instead restricts ordinary public access to covered information. Authorized entities may retain access. An expunction or nondisclosure order can explain why a Bailey County release record later disappears. Obtain the order and verify its scope with the issuing court. Never infer relief from a blank search.
A missing Bailey County record may also result from a spelling difference, limited portal coverage, transfer, or ordinary display retention. Those causes are not the same as court-ordered relief. Compare the signed order with the cause number and offices named in it. When a request is denied or redacted, ask the custodian to identify the legal basis that applies to the withheld material. That response is more useful than guessing why the record cannot be seen.
Find Bailey County Released Inmates
Bailey County's path is notification-first, not list-first. The Sheriff page has long directed the public to SAVNS/VINE, while Texas replaced the former county VINE platform with IVSS-Counties in 2025. Start at the current county portal and check whether Bailey County participates at the time of the search. Read the exact status and agency. A transfer alert is not community release.
- Search IVSS-Counties by exact or partial name and use an identifier when possible.
- Call the jail at 806-272-4268 or its administrator at 806-272-7619 to resolve release versus transfer.
- Route felony records to the District Clerk, county-level matters to the County Clerk, and fine-only cases to the right justice or municipal court.
- If transfer occurred, search the receiving TDCJ, jail, BOP, or ICE system.
- For an older event, request the permanent jail-register entry, booking-out record, and matching court file.
A former Bailey County detainee may vanish from IVSS-Counties after leaving custody. A TDCJ prisoner may stop appearing in the current-incarceration search after parole or discharge. Preserve the wording and observation time when sources conflict. Then seek the official record that states the date, type, and authority.
Why is the person missing from the jail roster? Bailey County publishes no official roster at all. A custody portal may also remove a person after release, so absence proves nothing by itself.
Bailey County TDCJ Release Search
The TDCJ Inmate Information Search includes only people currently incarcerated in a TDCJ facility. It is not a former-prisoner archive and offers no released filter. A person who bonded out of Bailey County Jail may never appear there. Someone transferred into TDCJ may appear while confined, then disappear after parole, mandatory supervision, or discharge. That change is a lead, not proof of the date or reason.
The form accepts last name, first name, TDCJ number, SID number, gender, and race. At minimum, use last name plus the first initial, a TDCJ number, or a SID number. Results show name, TDCJ number, race, gender, projected release date, unit, and age. Details may add maximum sentence date, facility, parole eligibility, offense history, and a scheduled-release block. The search updates on working days and is at least 24 hours old.
If the profile is gone, request actual release date, type, certificate, discharge date, and releasable history through the TDCJ public-record process. Classification and Records handles time and release questions at 936-437-6231. IVSS-TDCJ can bridge prison custody to parole or mandatory supervision.
Bailey County Recent Release Limits
As of August 2, 2026, the official Sheriff navigation offered no inmate search, recent-release list, booking archive, mugshot feed, mobile app, or official social release channel. No authoritative 24-hour or 72-hour Bailey County release feed was found. This is a dated finding. Recheck the Sheriff page and current IVSS portal before relying on it.
The absence of a feed means no supported local update pace, retention duration, online release-reason field, photo policy, or archive behavior can be stated. The fallback is a named-person status check, direct jail confirmation, a Sheriff records request, and the proper court file. Commercial directories and guessed endpoints should not replace official sources.
The successful official Sheriff capture shows the county's contacts and legacy SAVNS/VINE guidance.
Its focus confirms why Bailey County release checks rely on named-person alerts and direct contact, not a public rolling list.
Bailey County Post-Release Supervision
Probation and parole answer different questions. Bailey County Community Supervision and Corrections Department administers local adult probation ordered by a court. TDCJ Parole Division supervises parole or mandatory supervision after state prison. The judgment identifies probation, while TDCJ and the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles control the state-prison route.
Bailey County CSCD is at 300 South First Street in Muleshoe and can be reached at 806-272-5147. State parole routes through Region V, and the county cross-reference assigns Bailey County to the Plainview District Parole Office. Supervision usually follows the approved residence, so confirm the assigned office. A fuller verification chain appears under Post-Release Supervision.
- Parole
- Conditional community supervision after a TDCJ prison term.
- Probation
- Court-ordered supervision administered by a local CSCD.
- Mandatory supervision
- Statutory supervised release when legal and agency conditions are met.
- Discharge
- The end of an agency's sentence or supervision authority.
Bailey County Release Visibility Windows
The locators retain different kinds of post-release information. IVSS-Counties warns that a person no longer in custody may not appear. ICE's locator can include people released from ICE custody during the prior 60 days, though omissions and upload delays occur. BOP covers federal prisoners from 1982 forward and may label a person Released or Not in BOP Custody.
Those labels apply only to their own systems. A BOP result does not establish release from Bailey County Jail. An empty ICE result does not prove release, removal, transfer, or lack of a case. IVSS-TDCJ covers prison and parole or mandatory-supervision events, while IVSS-Counties concerns participating county systems.
The official BOP Inmate Locator is the right public starting point for a known federal prison case.
A federal released label ends BOP custody only. Another authority or supervised release may still apply.
Note: “Not in custody” must be tied to the named agency and should never be treated as a universal status.
Compare Bailey County Release Sources
The useful source depends on last known custody. A live tool answers whether its system still reports the person. A release record answers when and how custody ended or changed. A court file supplies legal authority. None should be forced to answer all three.
| Situation | Use first | Main limit |
|---|---|---|
| Recent county jail event | IVSS-Counties and jail call | A former detainee may disappear. |
| Older county exit | Jail register and booking-out record | Requires a records request. |
| Current TDCJ prisoner | TDCJ inmate search | Excludes former inmates. |
| State supervision | IVSS-TDCJ and Parole Division | Not county probation. |
| Federal history | BOP locator | Not local or state custody. |
| Recent ICE custody | ICE locator | Limited scope and delays. |
Bailey County Release Court Records
Bailey County has no single clearly identified criminal docket for all case levels. Felony and district matters route to the District Clerk for the 287th Judicial District Court. County-level misdemeanor records route to the County Clerk. Fine-only matters may belong to the countywide Justice of the Peace or a municipal court. The right office can provide docket events, judgments, bond or dismissal orders, and filed release authority.
The County Clerk page links an LGS official-records purchase service, but it is not labeled as a full criminal case search. A blank result does not prove that no case or release order exists. Ask the clerk handling that case level and use the cause number when known. Court records explain legal authority, while jail records supply physical exit or transfer time.
Bailey County Release Facility
Bailey County Jail is the only confirmed detention facility in the county map. It is a 96-bed county jail operated by the Bailey County Sheriff's Office. A person may leave for the community after bond, time served, dismissal, or another order. The person may instead transfer to TDCJ, another jail, or another authority. Confirm the destination first.
Muleshoe Police Department is an arresting agency, not a separately confirmed city jail. Its official page gives police contact information but no locator or release desk. If municipal police made the arrest, ask both that agency and Bailey County Jail where booking occurred. No TDCJ, BOP, or ICE facility was identified within Bailey County, though local cases can enter those systems elsewhere.
